Why we built Springfield AI Index, and what your score actually measures.

Search has changed. People increasingly ask ChatGPT, Google's AI, Perplexity, and Siri for local recommendations — and those tools pull answers from structured, trusted sources, not ads. Most local businesses are invisible there, not because they're bad businesses, but because nothing about them is written in a way machines can confidently cite.

What your AI Visibility Score measures

Every business on Springfield AI Index gets a score out of 100, based on the signals AI answer engines actually look for:

Structured data & schema — machine-readable facts about what you do
AI-readable description — an entity-dense summary AI can quote
Answer-engine FAQ content — the Q&A format assistants pull from
Review signals — the volume and rating AI trusts
A verified, claimed profile with consistent contact info
A linked website AI can crawl for context

Springfield AI Index is a local initiative of Supersonic Media, a digital marketing studio. We have a certain set of skills — search, AI visibility, and web — and we use them to promote the businesses in our community. Listings are free for every business, forever. Businesses that want us to raise their score can get optimized, which helps keep the index running.
